Working Drawings
Working Drawings is a proposal for an exhibit to be held at the Van Alen Institute, an architectural exhibition space in New York City. The exhibit will showcase built projects that utilized parametric design and “working” drawings, drawings that can be directly used by CNC fabrication equipment. Parameter-based design allows certain elements of a design to contain a range of variability. Because of this range and the complexity it involves, the process of producing these drawings can be automated. Their output is not only representational but also operational: the drawings can be immediately implemented as instruction sets or as tooling for CNC manufacturing equipment.
The proposed exhibit will be curated by SOFTlab and 4pli. |
