AMPle system

SOFTlab designed and fabricated this shelving system. The system was created using the Waffle script developed by SOFTlab for automating the sectioning of Nurbs surfaces. The script, written in Maya's embedded language (MEL) automates the process of preparing drawings for fabrication. The shelves are constructed using a hybrid of plywood for the horizontal members and Panelam for the vertical members. The structural gradient - expansion/contraction - of the vertical elements allows for the variation in niche sizes, while their overall density relates the system to the original surface.
